Bookstore reflections (Marfa)
The low winter sun slants through the window at the Marfa Book Company, casting a shadow on the concrete floor.
Two things of note about the Marfa Book Company:
1. They have one of the best sections of architectural books I have ever seen.
2. And, once, when I was trying to find a copy of a book called The Ruins of Detroit, I ended up ordering it from Germany. Then, on my very next visit to Marfa, there it was, on a table waiting for someone like me to come along. Only, by then, I didn’t need it.

One Day | One Image 
The Ruins of Detroit? My first thought was that could be a book about the twilight year of the likes of Howe, Delvecchio and Sawchuk.
But, I clicked on your link and found some amazing photographs. That must be a wonderful book.

The book is fantastic – it’s got great urbex photography.
Also, I have to admit I had to a bit of Googling to get the hockey reference. We don’t get too much hockey in this part of Texas. (Although Lubbock did have a semi-pro hockey team for a few years. I don’t know why.)

Hockey in Texas, or Phoenix, or Florida, or SoCal just makes no sense at all to me. Where is the natural ice? Where is the snow? Too many missing reference points.

The games I went to (both of ’em) were pretty funny: all anyone understood were fights. During the actual, you know, GAME, the crowd was pretty quiet.
(Which reminds me of that famous Rodney Dangerfield quote: I went to a fight the other night, and a hockey game broke out.)

If I got to a game (once or twice a year) it is with my father in law and he always slips that quote in somewhere 🙂
