Thanks – I really didn’t notice the situation with that door until I was working on the image for the blog. Now I am not sure how I could possibly have missed seeing it!

Optical illusion? 😉

Yes – it’s the illusion that someone made a terrible mistake when they cut a hole in the building to accommodate that door!

I hadn’t noticed that. But it does line up with the driveway. How much logic do you require?

Donna – maybe we need to go back for a closer look at what’s really going on. And maybe go when the wind’s blowing at less than four hundred miles per hour!

It’s a RoliDoor. It rolls up into the top section. Very nice. The original quanset huts were meant to be temporary structures. This one may have outlived its usefulness but I’ve always had a fondness for the utilitarian. And they make excellent photo ops.

Quonset huts are lovely subjects, with all that nice metal and etc. I see them often, and sometimes remember to stop and make a photo or two….

The Apostrophe! Separate’s the intelligent from those who, shall we say, are ‘a sandwich short of a picnic’. I wish I had had the presence of mind to capture some of the sign’s I’ve seen with mangled use of the apostrophe. And that door – I’m guessing someone really couldn’t measure up either.

I used to work with someone who had a huge collection of photos of signs that were wrong for various reasons; it was very entertaining. (Unless you stopped to think about it, and then it just got depressing.)
I think probably what happened is that the door installer forgot that the wall curved, and measured (and cut!) the opening for the door before they figured it out. Geometry! It’s SO confusing.

Well, this is near Roswell, and that means anything’s possible.

Everything, with the possible exception of correct punctuation….

This is a terrific image, Melinda. I do like the offset door and the grammar but the words dripping off the building are beautiful, too. I’ve no idea what they are supposed to say but I’d like to think at one point they spelled ‘THINK TANK’.

Thanks, Karen. I feel it’s a pretty safe bet the sign didn’t say New Mexico Institute of Proofreading.
