Miguel & Angelica
I just added a new rule to my other one – always look around back. The new rule is take the other route into town.
I’ve been to Plainview a lot of times. And I always go into town the very same way. The other day, I took a different exit (there aren’t that many to choose from) off the highway, which put me within eyesight of what used to be a big grocery store. It looked nicely abandoned, so of course I had to check it out.
And (around back, of course!) I noticed that Miguel and Angelica had proclaimed their love on a trash container. As one does.

One Day | One Image 
I have an affinity for your part of the country, having lived in Corpus Christi, Austin, and Albuquerque, and having driven between said cities, passing through such metropolitan areas as Muleshoe, Dumas, Quitaque, and Plainview. For a genealogy project I interviewed a distant relative in Plainview and we stayed overnight in an RV “campground” — Ollie Liner RV Park, 2000 S. Columbia. If memory serves it showed signs of having once been a drive-in theater, but looking at Google satellite and street views, I can’t tell if that’s really true or not. A desolate, asphalty campground, you might find a photograph there in early morning or late afternoon. The nearby train track was very loud at night.

Thanks for all your research on Plainview – I’ll have to check out the RV park the next time I go up there. And I’ll convey your message to Miguel and Angelica, too.

I just looked up the RV park, and found out I drove right past it the other day! But I didn’t see it, because I was looking the other direction.

I don’t feel too good about the situation either. I hope it at least lasted until the paint dried, though.

One of today’s comments mentioned an interesting RV park that’s on this route into town. I didn’t see it on my trip, so obviously a return visit to Plainview is necessary. And you know which exit I’ll be taking!
