Mother Road
The famous Route 66 was one of the first highways in the national highway system; it covered some 2,440 miles from Chicago, Illinois, to Santa Monica, California. It lost its official designation in 1985, after it had been replaced in its entirety by the Interstate highway system.
But it still lives on in legend and myth. And, of course, in giant roadside billboards.

Wonderful sky!
“Well it winds from Chicago to L.A.
More than two thousands miles all the way
Get your kicks on Route sixty six”

Thanks, David. I was lucky – it’s been dry this summer with very few clouds!

Thanks, Richard. This drive can be dull, but the sky added a lot of interest that day.

At first I didn’t much like this shot. Then I clicked and looked full size – wow! Now I love it.

It’s one of those images where there’s not that much going on. Until, suddenly, there is.

I agree. And that lots going on is mostly kind of granular in a small image so I am glad I enlarged it.
