A late supper
You’ve seen it, haven’t you? The more-frequent inclusion of people in my images. Are you wondering if I’m OK? Do you suspect that someone else has taken over my blog?
The answers are Yes. And No.
In the past, I would have lined up my shot and waiting for the people to leave before I made the picture. But, as part of my ongoing process to see things differently, I’ve decided to leave people in some of the shots. We’ll see how that goes!

PS – There is a chance, I guess, that one of these days I go completely off the deep end and post a photo that not only has people in it, but is in color!

Yes, you certainly did. You have a good eye, and now you’ll recognize me when our paths cross.

I love the expression on the face of the guy in the apron. Brilliant.

Thanks, Kate. It’s a lot easier to do this kind of photography in LA than it is where I live: there aren’t enough people out and about to be an inconspicuous photographer. (But even here, that one guy was totally on to what I was doing…!)

They’re surprised because they can’t believe you’re taking pics of people. That’s how famous you are !
Since grandkids, and one great, I take people pics.

Believe me, no one was more surprised about it than I was!
Until, say, last weekend at that class, the only people I photographed were my granddaughters.

This was all going on behind my back. The photo came out really well, there are a lot of internal frames happening here – a novel way for you to use rectangles, putting people in them.
As I recall the food wasn’t anything to write home about, but I did like the name of the place which I think is why we went there. That, and being more than ready for some food.

People! Such a stunning departure from usual people-free images. I wonder if I’ll keep it up, now that I’m back home where there are so few of them to photograph…

You need to go to a tourist town, where cameras are part of the scenery. Maybe go get some tunes in Austin, and take photos while there. Bruce must be playing in that neck of the woods soon? And, a long day of driving back roads would get you there, and some photos without people too.

That’s a good point. The huge South by Southwest music festival starts next week in Austin, and that would be a good place to get images of people. But there’s the slight problem of having a job and etc. Maybe one of these days…

Job = “slight problem” is good attitude, at least you did no say “big”. SXSW would be awesome place to go, even without a camera.

Think of all the interesting people who’d be at SXSW and how much fun we could have microcomposing them!

I find that taking serious pictures at music events means I don’t hear the music. No multitasking allowed in this decrepit old brain. So I would have to decide to go either to listen to music, or to take pictures.

Of, course, there might be music you don’t want to hear, especially. That would be where you could take pictures!

I am not at all comfortable making images like this one, really, but I am trying to push myself this year to do more street photography. We’ll see where that takes me…!

I would love to do more street photography .. but living in the country makes it a big tough .

I live in a small city, and it’s even hard here to do street photography!
