Our weather this summer has been uneasy: hot days, or ones that are fall-cool, storms that pop up suddenly, or rains that last all day.
But that makes this happen.

The light in the background is an interesting contrast to the foreground’s darkness. Nice composition.

Thanks, Julie. The clouds that afternoon were amazing, and I was just behind a little rain shower so I got the nice gift of puddles and damp pavement!

First time I ever heard of a Quinceañera, had to look it up. Don’t suppose I’ll ever need one, but nice to know they exist.

I never heard of them when I was growing up here, but somewhere along the line, they’ve become a Really Big Deal. I have some photos of shop windows with quinceañera dresses that I’ll post one of these days. (I needed a wide angle lens to get ’em.)

I was thinking about what to do this weekend – maybe I’ll head back over to the quinceañera store with my 17mm lens and try to fit a whole dress into one image…

I wonder if, in the distressed wedding dress tradition, you could get one of these dresses tangled on a Longorn’s horns and photograph it that way. With a long lens of course.

Let’s do this: the next time you come to Lubbock, we can round up (Ha! Ha!) a quinceañera dress, some tinfoil hats, a few long lenses, and a herd of longhorns and have a great time!

Sounds like a plan. I’ll bring a long lens. Do the dresses come in red? Do you know any matadors? They must have them in Texas too.

I don’t know any matadors, but there’s a town called Matador; all of those residents would be matadors, I think.

Okay, we can do our long-lensed long-horned shoot in Matador, Perhaps you can practice today with a short lens, and no cows.
