Reflections: all the town, right here
The way the sunlight hit those pieces of wood was enough for me to direct the Patient Spouse to make a u-turn so I could get the shot. And then, even better than the original thing I thought I was photographing, was the way the clouds and all the buildings across the street layered themselves into the scene.
Also, the P. S. reported that a slow-cruising state police officer stopped a block down the street to watch me. That officer is probably still trying to figure out what the hell I was up to…

Sort of a modern monochrome photographic impressionism, or something. Whatever it is, I like it. I have no photographs of Kimball, Nebraska in early June 1971. But I do have a story that involves a local policeman. I’ll have to figure out how to get it into the blog without a photo sometime.

Yes, I was DEFINITELY going for a modern monochrome photographic impressionism effect.
I hope you can work in the story – I’m intrigued!
I haven’t had any actual real encounters with an officer, but I did get yelled at by a security guard in Victoria BC: https://melindagreenharvey.com/2015/05/17/we-were-asked-to-leave-the-premises/

I will have to tell you about the time when I discussed philosophy with a CHP officer at the side of Interstate 5 at about 11 PM one Friday night many years ago.

That sounds like an excellent story, and I look forward to hearing it one of these days.

Sure, if the fall is glorious there.

Oh, yes. Quite glorious.
(The best part of fall when we lived in Albuquerque was when the cottonwoods along the Rio Grande turned golden. It’s even prettier than when aspens turn.)

Wild! I also see that a lot of the bloggers I’m just getting to know, you have known for years. Of course I’m just a Mikey-come-lately.

It’s a pretty small community, when you get down to it. And it’s been fun to be able to meet some of these folks in person, too. When I started out, I had no idea that getting to know people via blogs was even a thing that could happen…

I think the keyword here is community. So far I have met, through the blogs, some really great people.

That’s my experience, too.
I was thinking about it yesterday, in fact. Most of my new followers are on my Instagram account, rather than here. But I don’t get the same connections on Insta. I’m not sure why that is.

I am not on Facebook or Instagram. As a photographer wants to become more well-known, I probably should be. But frankly, just hearing the name Zuckerberg puts me in a state of utter revulsion. But regardless, here’s my take: those social media do not leave much room for nuanced thought of literacy. Blogging does. So it attracts different people.

“Shameless self-promotion” – that’s my game. But I am partial to blogging over the other stuff.

I’m thinking maybe You and the P.S. could go back and retrieve some of the lumber for me. That would also keep the State Trooper entertained. Love those reflections captured as well. Btw, while collecting the lumber could you also grab the hardware in the foreground?

I will get on that, as soon as I’m back in Melrose, New Mexico. In addition to the hardware and lumber, there’s probably some good stuff further back. I’ll get some of it as well.
