Not a bad place to be…

It really was lovely – on a slight slope, which is sort of unusual around here – and there were little yellow wildflowers everywhere. Mr. Leatherwood has a nice place, for sure.

The stark simplicity of this picture speaks volumes. There can be loneliness in isolation, or there can be peace. In this particular case I’m voting for peace.

It was actually one of the more peaceful cemetery spots I’ve been too, in ways that I can’t quite articulate. And I was there on a day that wasn’t even all that pleasant – the wind was blowing about 30 mph – so I need to go back on a calmer day and see if I get the same sense from it.

I’d love to see it in very late afternoon light. But still monochrome.

The cemetery slope is to the west, so it would have some very nice light late in the afternoon. Meet me there? Maybe Tuesday?

That would involve air travel.

So, then maybe later in the summer? But is Tuesday still good?

Philosophically, Tuesday is great. It’s Wimpy’s favorite day.

I’ll mark my calendar. For a Tuesday. Sometime in the future.

That’s a nice spacious cemetery. I’m not planning on being interred, scattered to the Acadian mountaintop winds is more to my liking, but if I were to be that’s just the sort of place for me.
Don’t know why, but I decided to look him up on Google. All I found was that he was a farmer. I imagine he’d be happy to be covered with flowers like that.

Cotton is the main thing grown around here, but let’s just believe that Mr. Leatherwood always wanted to be a flower farmer… (Thanks for looking him up.)
