women’s building
I went to the fair – it’s a family tradition.
And because Lubbock is still more or less mired in 1958 or something, there’s a building called The Women’s Building. It’s where all the gals get to show their baking, canning, pickling, cake-decorating, quilting, embroidering, knitting, crocheting, and other skills of a feminine nature. At the end of fair week, the cakes have sort of melted into themselves, which is my favorite part.
Here’s a shot that doesn’t include of the gal-type stuff. Unless you count the broom.
Anyway, I dare you to try to explain to my very outspoken sixth grade granddaughter why the building has such a gender-specific name. I’ll tell you right now she won’t be putting up with your bullshit explanation.
