Three clouds

A relaxing view.

So, instead of reading my usual yammering, stare at this until you feel relaxed…..there, don’t you feel better?

  3. Me too 🙂 Twice now as I looked at this last week. The view from a hammock – what a delightful concept. Now that I have been back at work for a week after nearly a month off I am exhausted and ready for a hammock.

    • So, in addition to putting oil cloth on top of the reports on your desk, maybe you could hang a hammock in your office? And put a large print of this photo on the ceiling. I bet you are more relaxed just thinking about it!

      • Totally more relaxed. Except the ceiling above my workspace is about 20 feet up. Could be complicated.

      • I don’t think it’s too complicated; all you have to do is:
        1. Get a print made, say 30″ x 50″
        2. Have it mounted to foam core board, so it’s sturdy without weighing a lot
        3. Put grommets in each corner
        3. Suspend it from your ceiling at a height that seems comfortable (you could use monofilament line so it’s invisible, mostly), using the grommets to run the cable/wire/monofilament/chain through

        You’re welcome.

      • Some architect designed the space I am in (well “some” = neighbour down the street so I should be polite) – it is an old brick wharehouse or similar – very tall windows but not next to me. There is a “cloud” ceiling, I guess to help deliver some of the air, and keep lights in reach, and prevent echos. But it is an oval cloud and covers maybe 50% of the space above, so people like me have an opening to the bottom of the next floor. The HVAC works like crap so some are cold while others hot, and sound travels from one end to the other of the office. Unless the HVAC is on high creating white noise. What is really needed is for me to move offices, then I would gladly get out a grommeting tool, and a print, and monofilament line (= fishing line, right?) and make a better cloud. With my luck though, coconuts would fall out of the picture onto my head, or lap (cringe).

But even so, thank you for the design idea.

      • Damn architects.

So, yes, just move offices (“You’ll like it here, only half-way under the cloud. It enhances brain activity, and the day will just FLY by!” would be maybe a good selling point.)

I cropped the coconuts out of the photo, so you ought to be OK.

        And, yes: fishing line.

      • I should say that I like architects. Sometimes I don’t like their products though. Sometimes they do miracles with a terrible space, and still fail the user.

The rate my office is emptying right now with retirements and desertions (rats and sinking ships come to mind), soon I will have my choice of any space anywhere in the office. In fact, they will want me to stay so badly they will gladly move one of the remaining few if it serves to make me happy enough to stay. And buy a print and hire someone to hang it just so above my space. Coconuts cropped and all.

      • Do you think they’d send you to Fiji to take your own photograph? I’d start with asking for that, and see what happens. (I could probably clear my schedule if you need a guide or anything….)

      • Now we are talking. So long as no VC’s* are involved in the transportation.

Just let me know when we are leaving….
