Every now and then I like to play around with the photography apps on my phone. Today was one of those times. I was relaxing in the courtyard of the Holland Hotel and became captivated by the sight of the umbrella and the clouds and the building.
I especially like those lines (strings of lightbulbs?). You’ve put them in the absolutely right place in the composition. I also like the color. And I’m enjoying some ambiguity: The clouds in the sky coupled with the longitude and latitude lines make me think of a globe, while the building pulls me out of such foolish thinking.
Thanks, Linda. It was a happy alignment of clouds, lights, an umbrella, me, a beer, a iPhone, and a bunch of apps to fool around with. (Maybe more than one beer, to be honest….)
Thanks, Andy. I used PhotoToaster for most of it, then added the border with another app that I can’t remember. (This was a half-helpful answer!). For some reason I feel a lot more free to manipulate pictures I take with my iPhone, I am not sure why….
Phone photos are fun!!! You can use that quote anytime if you like.

I love it. A vintage feel, including scratch marks, distorted colours and an unusual angle. Very effective – what App is that Melinda?

Maybe they seem more disposable if they come via a phone? So it doesn’t matter if your wreck it. It sure works well. This is a very nice effect.

I think shots seem less serious if they are taken with a phone. Plus the apps are fun, and kind of mindless to play around with.
This is pretty different from my usual stuff; glad you like it.
