The smoking section
The flea market around the corner from my office has a smoking section. Right there on the sidewalk.
I’ve been wanting to photograph this for a while, but during the day the sidewalk is cluttered up with people, and you may have noticed that I don’t really have that many people in my shots (if “not that many” = “none”) so I went by there one night…and all the smokers were elsewhere.

Very nice how you composed your work. Good capture of shadow , nice lines and tones of gray . Very well done.

Sometimes people in shots is over rated. This is lovely just the way it is.

Thanks – glad you like the shot.
I almost never have people in my shots (unless they are my granddaughter, but that’s a whole other blog), but I’ve found some street photographers whose work I enjoy (like this one: http://jackbrewis.com/).

My family would probably ask that you NOT encourage me, but we’ll just ignore them! Glad I can crack you up – sometimes I crack myself up, too!
PS – Congrats on your show!

Sometimes it’s scary in my head…
This is my 5th year to do a post-a-day blog, and I decided to add more writing this year. I’m having a good time with it, as you can no doubt surmise, and I am glad to know that you’re enjoying it, too!

That is a terrific shadow. And the “You’re on Camera” sign made me smile. I really like the three panels behind the chairs, they are all so different but nicely balanced.

And NONE of those things would have been significant if there’d been people in the way!

Oh, and how big IS your monitor that you could even see the “You’re on Camera” sign?!?

I think it is 24″ monitor, but maybe 22″. But, when I click on your image to get the bigger version it is nowhere the size of the screen, and I did not do anything artificial to make it bigger, like ctrl++++. I did have to lean pretty close to the screen to read it though:)
