Even chairs like to get some sun
These chairs seem to have crept away from the shadow in order to enjoy a bit of hot summer sun. I like how the one on the left seems to lean away from the other one, as though to distance itself for some reason.
And I also like how the satellite dish peeks over the fence, keeping its eye on the chairs. Or on the photographer.
This is for my blogging pal over at Syncopated Eyeball, who is also very fond of chairs.

I think Sync will like this, it’s a great shot. I like the uneven shadow line, too.

Thanks!
I am trying to talk Sync into coming to Texas so we can leave one random chair in front of the Prada Marfa art ( ? ) installation. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prada_Marfa) Maybe this photo will make my argument more convincing….

It may interest you to know that, when we were ready to leave Minnesota, my first choice in places to go was Texas. For obvious reasons.

As recently as last week, this place (http://bit.ly/154b0fQ) was still available, if you are re-thinking your decision. I think Emo would probably like it here….

While it would be nice to move into a house as well maintained (compared to the house I bought) as this, Emo has found his home and probably would not be up for another traumatic cross-country moving experience. Thanks, anyway.

This place IS pretty nice; I can’t understand why it’s still vacant. The only thing I can think of is its proximity to a busy highway.
You are right, though – if Emo’s not up for the move, then you really don’t have a choice. Our cat Rocky moved with us from Albuquerque to New Orleans, and from New Orleans to Lubbock. It was traumatic for him and probably shortened his life: he only lived to be 20 years old.

Chairs do have personalites too… I know. 🙂
I have some in my archive, and I might post them.

I have published one of them now. 🙂

It’s so true. I have chairs that are in the sun also, and they like it.

Yes, chairs are a bit like cats in that respect: nothing like spending an afternoon napping in the sun!

Lovely! And thanks for the mention, Melinda!
I have an image of four chairs that I think you might like: it’s got chairs and it’s black and white; white on white, even. Reminds me of you. 🙂

Yes, I DO like that chair photograph. I wonder, though, why that one chair is sitting in the other one’s lap……!
You’re welcome for the mention; I don’t see chairs anymore without thinking about you, so it seemed fair to put a link to your blog. I imagine you saw your pageviews increase by…well, maybe one.

I think those two are having an affair.

That’s what I thought, too. It just didn’t look right, somehow.

interesting image, the chairs have something human in the way they’re there.

Yes, I think that bit of a human factor is what caught my eye in the first place. Thanks for stopping by the blog, and for commenting.

Great pair of chairs – so important they have different tones too. Well composed, Melinda

Thank you, Andy. There were a lot of things that came together in just the right way for this one – the different tones in the chairs (as you noted), the way the chair on the left is angled slightly away from the other one, the way the shadow line falls just above the top of the chairs’ backs. This sort of serendipitous alignment (it happened here, too – http://bit.ly/146LkUY – on the same day, in the same town) really is my favorite part of this photography deal I’ve gotten myself into!

Those chairs may indeed be having an affair, but they don’t want anyone to know about it. That too-nonchalant lean away from the other is a giveaway.
I really like the corrugated iron edges in this shot. Some of the nicest corrugations that you have shown us so far.

That’s probably a good observation. I think that white chair was doing that nonchalant whistle thing, too, when I was standing there taking the picture. I didn’t think too much about it at the time, but it’s taken on a new level of significance with your insightful comment.
Glad you like the corrugations…

I’m starting to like and “get” chairs now. I used to see them “sitting” around and think what kind of people sat in these chairs and what stories / lives they had 🙂 In this respect they’re much like abandoned buildings, but on a smaller scale.

It’s odd how often those random chairs turn up…I agree with you: their stories would be interesting!
