Tree, barely

I don’t know…there’s just something I like about a sky with just a hint of a tree at the bottom.

Here’s a similar photo from Fiji.

I am a child of the Plains – trees in large numbers make me nervous. And they block the view. That might explain my preference for shots with only the barest hint of a tree….

  1. Then I am a child of the forest! Trees enchant me and I love to be on a trail in the woods. Too bad that now I cannot do it any longer because walking has become very difficult due a very very bad back. In any case I like your photos very much: they are expressions of yourself.

    • Thanks, Vera – I think who I am does tend to seep into the photos from time to time… Hopefully no one minds too much.

      • …nooo,! that is what makes each photographer unique – the best photos are the ones that seepe from the person who takes them. I have seen absolutely perfect photo blogs, but if there is nobody behind the image I stop following.

  2. I agree with your “hint of a tree” preference as I grew up on the Plains of Southeast Colorado. My first move to an area of the country with numerous trees made me nervous too. Glad to live back in an area with vast open spaces. Your photograph is arresting.

    • Thank you, Fred.

It’s interesting how we are shaped by our geographies. My mom grew up on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, but lived for more than 50 years on the Plains; she said that even after that long, she missed the hills and trees of her childhood….

  3. That’s a wonderful sky, Melinda. Too much of anything would be an unwelcome intrusion.
