I like many things about this shot, but the smallest is the screw/nut heads. Somehow they move my eye all over the frame.

If it’s OK with you, I am going to assume you mean you eye moves around the shot in a good way, not in a “Good God, there are so many screw heads here that I am getting dizzy!” way.

In a good way. But there is an idea – the clone tool could be used to make a clever trail for the eye. A bit like crumbs and Gretels.
