Sometimes the heart is the first to go
My friend Ehpem was an excellent host, and I was lucky enough to get to see Victoria through the eyes of a resident. One of the things we did was to walk along the beach at Mt. Douglas Park, picking our way between boulders and driftwood. (Every piece of driftwood was interesting to me since that’s not something I see on the High Plains. I feel like Ehpem may have been less enchanted.)
At any rate, my favorite part of this particular specimen was the way the heart of the tree was gone, lost to bugs or waves or something. It had a nice sculptural quality to it.

Driftwood can be wonderful. Some days I look closely but as it is ubiquitous around here sometimes I barely see it. It’s nice to see it throigh fresh eyes!

So, now what needs to happen is for you to come to Texas and look at run-down farmhouses with YOUR fresh eyes…..

Wouldn’t that be fun?

Yes. Yes, it would!

I like the feel of a montage here, Melinda. I guess that has been eaten away by the bugs somewhere. That was a great find.

Thanks, Andy. I had a great time on my (very short)visit to Victoria. It was nice to have completely new subjects to look at!
