Yes, without shadows there is no shape, no texture, no depth to things.

Yes – the shadows are the only visible clue that the white wall actually curves a bit.

This is very nicely done/seen, tricksy in fact. The two dimensionality of the upper part is quite confusing.

It’s so confusing that I don’t really remember what was actually going on here. Stairs. Curved stairs. And something else behind them? I may need to go back out there, to verify.
