February 16

During our big snow storm on Sunday, I took a hike. Well, OK, it was more like a walk. A walk around my backyard, if you are going to press me on it, which I guess barely counts as a walk. It must have been more of a stroll. Anyway, I saw this dried leaf cupping snowflakes and the tiny ice-balls that fell for a while before the snow started.

For similar – only better – images, check out these shots from a fellow photo-blogger, Sarah Takes Pictures. Tell her I sent you!

Odd thing, yesterday’s weather. It rained. It doesn’t do that much, what with the drought and all. That rain led to another odd thing – puddles.

A dewy leaf, early morning.

This is a rare sight in Lubbock, as the climate’s too dry for dew. This shot was taken in College Station, Texas, where dew falls frequently.

You know, nothing really says, “We’re not even trying.” more than a city’s downtown where you don’t even have to look very hard to find barbed wire.

Although, to be fair, it does make my job more interesting.
