so, what is the name of the central spine of a feather, and is it built from keratin or a similar material? 😉

Believe it or not, I know less about feathers than I do about architecture. (Although once, back when I was a calligrapher, I did try to carve a goose quill into a pen. It was a disaster, but I kept it for a long time, but I don’t remember why….)
