Spires, Ferndale
The thing about being well-informed in advance of your trip is that you know what sorts of things you are likely to encounter and can plan accordingly. That way, you don’t miss the really good stuff.
The thing about being ill-informed in advance of your trip is that when you find the cool stuff, because you think a town’s name has a good ring to it and on the way there you see, from the little highway, a steeple and decide that you might like to have a closer look so you turn off the road and end up spending three hours in a town because it’s got way more than just that one steeple, it makes a vacation day into a Vacation Day.
This was shot on the same day mentioned here. You can guess which kind of informed I was….

I like the composition too. At first glance I thought you had found something exotic like a small Russian Orthodox church to photograph, with a regular spire in the background.

Sorry – nothing exotic! The spire on the right is at the Catholic Church, and was what we saw from the highway, and the reason we stopped in Ferndale in the first place. The spire on the left is a building that was a church, and is now a private residence. Their living room must have the best acoustics in town….

Thanks. It was a very interesting cemetery – here’s a another view of it that I posted last summer (http://bit.ly/14r1uYZ).
I kind of wanted to knock on the door of the house/church and ask to look around. But then I thought that was just a little TOO weird.
