Rust, and some other things
This is a detail of some farm equipment that sits along the highway in the tiny town (population: 8) of Hart Camp, Texas.
This part is confusing – lately I’ve posted a couple of photos (here and here) from Hart, Texas, but Hart and Hart Camp are two different places. It doesn’t help that they are on the same road – Farm Road 168. If you are on FM 168 heading north, you’ll go through Spade, Hart Camp, Olton, and then Hart.
Oh, and when you go through Olton, watch the school zone. It’s a lot longer than you think it’ll be. Never mind how I found that out.

Home, again
I am back from vacation, and am working on catching up things around here. Like all the posts I missed on the blogs that I follow. Oh, and laundry.
Anyway, here’s what I saw on my trip. I realize that it’s just full of cliches, from the palm-tree fringe framing the shot, to the boat bobbing in the water, to that sunset. But, still: it’s what I saw.
There are more vacation shots to come, of course. Some in color, some with people – I went crazy while I was away!

The travelers’ beacon
Should your travels take you to Snyder, Texas, please consider staying at the Beacon Lodge Motel. It’s easy to find.
In 2008, a Yahoo reviewer said, “They have absurd rules like no clean towels and no calls after 10. He will make you pay extra for looking at him.” Newer reviews are better, so I guess there’s been some staffing changes. But I would like to know the going rate for looking at the manager….

White on White, 9
The bars on the window are designed to permit the casement windows to open part-way. But judging from the amount of thick paint on those window frames, I’d say that flat bars would have worked, too.
But these make a better shadow.

Whew! I did it. I am, of course, posting this in advance, so it’s pure conjecture on my part when I say the vacation was great and I look forward to a return visit to where ever it was that I went. But, I also look forward to replying to your comments, which I will start doing tomorrow!
Sign/Post
Look! Another example of (strongly) converging verticals.
I am almost positive that the sign’s gone now; next time I am up that way, I’ll check on it. A lot of the buildings and signs that I’ve photographed over the past few years are gone; so many, in fact, that I am giving some thought to featuring them in a gallery here on the blog. (Posting this plan makes me accountable – you are encouraged to remind me if it looks like I am not making the gallery. And when/if reminders don’t work, you are authorized to switch to nagging.)

After this, only one more day…then I can see what I’ve been missing. And I can reply to your comments.
