Fence. Line(s). Again.

Stylistically (and functionally, too, probably) this fence is the opposite of this one, which I spotted in an alley (if you can imagine).

Of course I like the corrugated metal (who doesn’t like corrugated metal?), but for some reason that rock in the front of the fence is my favorite part of the scene.  Maybe it’s casing the joint, planning on coming back later to bust some other rocks out from the other side of the fence.

(It could be just a rock, but that’s boring.)

  1. A privacy fence the rock escaped? Neat photo: sky, phone lines, half a tree – really like this one, Melinda!

    • Maybe it’s a Bad Rock and all the Good Rocks on the other side evicted it?

I suppose there is also a very remote possibility that the rock and the fence are not related, but that’s boring.

Anyway – glad you like this one!

  2. I think john may be wrong. Maybe the fence is there to keep the rocks out. In any event, fences don’t get much better looking than corrugated metal as far as I’m concerned.

  3. I really like this one. The contrast between the regularity of the fences texture against the tree branches, the hard vertical of the fence against the soft horizontal pattern of the clouds. Very nice.

    • Thanks for your comment; and thanks for being specific about what you liked. I liked those same things, and I am also fond of the way the rigidity of the metal is broken by that one panel on the left – the one that’s starting to peel away.

  4. I think this is great. I love the three contrasting layers.

  5. I like corrugated metal! I dont recall seeing a fence made of it though. It is a building material in very short supply around here.

That rock is just contemplating the ground for a while. I expect it moved on once you left. Had it eyes you could say it was dirtgazing.

    • Maybe the idea for Dirtgazing was planted (Ha! Ha!) the day I took this shot, because of the rock and its contemplation of the ground.

You have to come to Texas: there are lots of fences like this. Think how much fun you’d have with the Pen, making diptychs and triptychs and etc. of all the metal!
