Serrated edges
I don’t particularly want to admit how, exactly, I know this, but the edges of this plant are as sharp as they look….

I know how you know as I have gotten this understanding in the same way 🙂 – Nice shot of this in what looks to be fairly harsh light.

Let’s just call it “on the job training.” One thing about shooting in Texas is that you have to learn what to do with harsh light! (I was out yesterday morning, when it was misty, and it took me a while to get comfortable with that kind of lighting.)

Yes, Western (arid) shooting is very different than here in the moist Eastern USA

I have been known to have an irresistible urge, in the past, to want to “pet” cactus. I have no idea why.
Therefore, I know exactly how those feel, too. 🙂

I once touched a cactus, carefully and between the big spines, only to discover that there were lots of nearly invisible spines that immediately detached from the cactus into my finger.

The contrast has really rendered thorns impressively. That looks like a plant to steer well clear of.
