The refuge
I found this on my recent excursion in downtown Lubbock. I am not certain what The Refuge is, although it looks like it might be a place for broken or discarded office furniture.
This chair is obviously not feeling comfortable at The Refuge: it’s poised by the door, ready to make its escape….

A refuge for glass blocks maybe.
That chair looks better without a back than it would have with one. Simple lines.

I didn’t see any glass block at the Refuge – maybe it was hidden inside somewhere and the chair was actually guarding the door, rather than trying to escape through it.
Yes, the chair does look better without the back, but it would sure be uncomfortable to sit in. It’s like what would have happened if Frank Lloyd Wright had designed it.

I see glass blocks inside – for instance just beneath the wording “The Refuge”. Or is that a reflection? Or are those something else?

You’re right -they are glass block. For some reason (likely related to coffee depravation) I was seeing them as a row of tiles on the wall….
