Pebble field
It was a warm day, warmer than usual for January. And the wind wasn’t blowing, which is rare enough to warrant a mention. I wandered the streets (and alleys, which you probably already knew) of downtown.
This shot captures most of our skyline, as all three buildings (plus one steeple) rise above the field of pebbles left behind when a building was demolished to make way for – well, I guess for a field of pebbles.

Trust you to place a wide textured surface in the foreground!
This picture makes Lubbock seem very small. Which led me to look at an on-line map to see what form of fiction that was 🙂 Turns out the pebble field shows very well in the aerial image, or maybe it is one across Avenue Q – the weird thing is that within that empty lot is placed the business address and links for a photographer.

It wasn’t fiction, was it?
I never heard of that photographer who shows up on Google maps. Also, that wasn’t shot while I was there, because if it were, you’d see my car parked along 13th Street, and me lying down in the alley to get the shot. In case you were wondering.

I rather thought you might lie down on the job of taking photographs – some of your foregrounds dictate that as necessary, unless perhaps you had a small tripod and an articulating screen.
I came home from shooting a tide pool last week with a rather embarrassing wet patch on the front of my pants – the price I paid for lying down on the job.
I liked the reviewer on google maps who thought it was strange that all the reviews for that photographer were written in the same month.

Your tide pool shots were well worth the embarrassing wet spots, though, because those were GREAT shots. (Picked up by Toad Hollow, too, right?)
Did you think the comment re. the photographer’s reviews was implying that they were all written by the same person?

Yes – that is what I thought they meant – or a concerted effort to get friends to comment. ‘Not free of bias’ I think was the general implication.

I’m glad you concur. Sometimes I think I might tend to be too cynical. But then I am usually reminded that being “too cynical” is actually impossible.
