This building faces west. Unless it doesn’t.
My memory maintains that this bank of windows faced west, catching the late-afternoon sun. That may be true.
It is equally likely that they faced north and the glow is reflected light from a tall building nearby.
Most of the time I have a good sense of direction. There are a few places, though, where I always get lost. San Antonio, Texas: I can get lost walking around the block. Espanola, New Mexico: pretty sure I will end up permanently circling that place one of these days, looking for the highway to Abiququ. And Boston: I never knew WHERE I was, other than “in Boston.” And even that might not have been accurate, because I sure could have been in Charlestown or Cambridge or…

Also: I am going on a bit of a vacation. To someplace without much internet access. The posts will continue, and please leave comments. I will answer them as I can, and promise to get to all of them sooner or later. The internet and I will reconvene on July 7.

Ah, the problems of the well-seasoned traveler. I have no sense of direction, which gets me lost on a continuing basis. That’s part of the fun, though, I get to see places unintentionally. Now I have a compass app on my phone and I still don’t use it very much. I enjoy the disorientation. I love the tones (and rectangles) in this one.

This is sort of rectangle-intensive, isn’t it?
Head to San Antonio if you like seeing places unintentionally…

You probably need a new camera (who doesn’t?) and they come with GPS units now, so you could actually take a picture, and later on check to see exactly where you were. Of course, it would take away a lot of the fun, but it would use that maps feature in the photo software for some good purpose!
Look at all those brick rectangles! I wonder if you had been born a couple of centuries back if you might have become a mason, arranging rectangles for all to see.

I just got a new point-and-shoot that has a GPS feature. It’s handy, only it drains the battery really fast.
Maybe I WAS born a couple of centuries back and WAS a mason. Just something to ponder.
