Through for the year
Maybe there’s a slight chance some of my observant readers have noticed that I can be a bit of a contrarian. But if you haven’t noticed, here’s a little bit of proof. All summer, the sunflower fields south of town glowed with yellow light reflected from the blossoms. It was lovely.
But it wasn’t until the flowers were dead that I felt like taking their picture.
And, then I was reminded of a song by the band Thriftstore Cowboys:
if i only knew we were through for the year
i would’ve tried to be perfectly clear
we’ve stumbled before but you’re now on your own
i guess that makes two of us standing alone

Great post, nice picture. I know what you mean how for each of us we see those things that stirs something inside us and I’m thankful for that. You can get tired of pictures of flowers and bees, show me the insects that eating the leaves

There’s beauty everywhere; sometimes it’s just a little harder to find. But the “hard to find” beauty is what I like best. Even insects eating leaves can be beautiful – to a photographer, anyway!

I like this shot a lot but I hope your husband brings you flowers a little fresher than these on those special occasions.

He does send me flowers every now and then, and they are almost never wilted! What a guy!
