Headquarters
I shot this on the same trip to Odessa where I took this and this. It’s not as dramatic as the other two shots, but I sure did like the way those letters cast a shadow onto the window blinds behind them. So impressed, in fact, that I stood in the middle of the street to get the picture. (That wasn’t as dangerous as it sounds: as it turns out, there is very little traffic in downtown Odessa on a Sunday afternoon. You might want to keep that in mind when planning your own trip there.)

Wonderful shadows! Does make me dizzy – your second recent post with that effect.

Maybe I need to add a tagline to that blog that says “Got vertigo?”
Tomorrow’s photo shouldn’t make you dizzy….

Excellent shot! This is the National Headquarters, right?

This seems like it might be a trick question, so all I will say is, “I can neither confirm nor deny….”

NIce shot. Don’t understand what’s with the picture of sterile hybrids on the glass? (Those are mules, right?).

It’s either a mule, a symbol of stubborn photographers who stand in the street to get the shot, or a donkey, the symbol of the Democratic party. At this point, I believe it’s open to the viewer’s interpretation.

I like your first interpretation.

Well, let’s just go with that one.

Well, OK, if you don’t mind being considered stubborn when it comes to getting the shot!

I can assure you that it won’t be the first time, or the only context, where I’ve been stubborn. It is one of my most endearing qualities. Wait. I think I may have meant ENDURING qualities.

Can endurance arise from mulishness?

It is the inevitable outcome.

Those carefully lettered words weren’t really designed to be shadowed onto blinds that didn’t hang very straight, were they. I think those animals are Asses (another word for Donkey)

I am pretty sure those blinds are the cheap, vinyl ones, and they never hold up very well in the Texas sun. Especially on west-facing windows like this one. It does give a dizzying feel!
