What waits at the end of the road
What waits at the end of this particular road, in a cemetery, is a small, concrete block building with a locked door.
Let’s hope that’s not really what the end has for us.

My friend Sue Wallis passed away this week; her memorial service is today. Sue was a fine poet and a good woman, and she left the earth too soon. Her husband Rod McQueary passed away in December 2012, also much too soon.
Here’s a Sue, reciting a poem in which her love for Rod is palpable. I miss them both.

This cemetary has a beautiful view of the hill in the background. It really looks nice.

It is nice – there are a lot of cedar trees to give it some shade, and views like this one all the way around.

I bet that is the groundskeeper’s shed. The location and headstones look as if the dead are being better looked after than the living who work here.

There was a larger shed toward the center of the cemetery, and I think it was probably the groundskeeper’s shed. This one – I think – is probably where the water well is. But maybe I ought to make another trip to Alpine to verify….

May peace follow them both together as your love and caring obviously will.
