Ghost Signs
My time was fairly constrained when I was in Atlanta, so I was limited on what sorts of things I could find to photograph. I stayed near the convention center, and everything around there is new, which presented a bit of problem for a photographer who loves the old, crumbly stuff.
I did spot this nice ghost sign just down the block from the hotel; it was nice of the sign to be there for me and it made me like Atlanta a little bit more.

I love these kinds of painted, half worn signs on the sides of buildings. I always want to photograph them!

I like them a lot, too. In the town I live in, there was a fad for a while of repainting the old signs; I hated it, and every single one of them looked worse. Fortunately, it didn’t last long enough to ruin all the cool old signs!

Love seeing these ghosts from the past all over my city and I sometimes think they are more artistic.

My husband’s architectural office is in an brick warehouse that previously housed an business called La Bodega; during renovations, the stucco was removed and there on the brick was a painted sign that said La Bodega. It was a nice surprise, and of course it’s still there as a bit of a homage to building’s past.

One of the nice things about lodz is that they are paying homage to these old adverts by commissioning murals on the side of buildings. It is a nice touch, there are some examples here http://www.unurth.com/Galeria-Urban-Forms-Lodz-Poland.
