The weather moved in
The idea was to get some spectacular shots of sunset on these limestone cliffs, the ones Georgia O’Keeffe called The White Place. The weather, however, had different ideas, and as this storm moved in, we decided it was time to move out.
But I kind of liked the stormy skies better than I would have like the sunset.

For me it’s an uneasy merge of wispy clouds and chalky rough cliffs. Sensual and dynamic (again).

I love stormy skies – the drama they provide adds a lot to a photo. A plain blue sky is, in the words of a colleague of mine “Clear blue skies are boring. This sky? Not boring.”

kewl i know dat spot as also the spot by the lake in the previous shot, u captured the serenity an lonliness i feel a lot when i go hang out there,,is a trippy lake,,,, great job with that nothing to werk with when it turns out to be like that shot with the bench there very sumpting, keep on keepin on 🙂 Q

Knowing how to make a great picture is everything with this moment in time by photographer Melinda Green Harvey. It’s moments like these that the 1,000 or so times you clicked the shutter before-hand prepares you for. I’m glad Melinda chose this in monochrome as it pulls out the story and the drama of the moment. The texture from the cloud formations juxtaposes well with the texture in the rock. What makes this a remarkable simple moment for me is it has something to say and keeps me interested …. and I want to know more of the story. Thank you Melinda for not letting this storm get away without you first sharing it (with all of us).

This is almost like a single textured surface, the way the sky and cliffs blend together. Much more interesting than a plain sky would have been.

It was a very interesting storm – and the way the clouds and the cliff resemble each other was the best part!
