Busker, Santa Fe
What in the world? A picture of a PERSON?!
I watched this guy for a long time, enjoying the range of expressions on his face. Between songs, he’d sometimes linger in the silence, and stare off across the Plaza. Once, he and the nearby balloon-seller had a short conversation. A woman with long blonde hair talked to him three or four different times; once she put some money in his jar, and twice he smiled.
And that’s all I know about the busker I watched.

Thanks, Marcus! Believe me, I’m also surprised when I make photos of people (unless they are my granddaughters, but that doesn’t count). This guy was too good to pass up.
Enjoy your weekend, too!

As it turns out, I will be traveling in a couple of weeks, and may be able to get some people shots then…
The problem with trying to do street photography in Lubbock is that there are so few people out that it’s hard to blend into the (nonexistent) crowd to take a few pictures.

Make sure you travel to a tourist trappy kind of town where it is expected that a camera will be flashed around in the crowds, and where there are lots of buskers busking, then you should be OK.

I hope my planned destination meets this standard. Perhaps I will meet up with a friendly local resident who can give me some pointers.

You could try an ad on Craigslist at your destination. You never know, you might find a pointer.

Oh, yes. I am SURE I could find a “pointer” on Craigslist…
(Now, please excuse while I try to drag my mind back out of the gutter.)

An attractive triangular composition. The music, the instrument and the face. It would’nt work if his head was raised. A lovely candid, Melinda

Thanks, Andy. Brett Erickson will be so happy to see that I WAS paying attention in his workshop, with that triangular composition.

Cease and desist! Or I’ll be forced to find old buildings to photograph. 🙂

Sorry to lap over into your territory; I’ll head back to the buildings now.
