At least there’s a place to sit
This place was a treasure of randomness. That tree growing in what used to be (before the roof fell apart) indoors. The upended sofa. The tires. The phone on the wall (which maybe has to direct connection with the phone booth, which is just across the street?). And that chair, providing both a place to sit and a measure of security with its placement in front of the door.
And, the best part? There’s even more that I couldn’t get into the shot! Perhaps a subsequent post will take care of that. You just never know…

I wonder if there is some guy out there wondering where he left those spare tires.

He thinks, “They were RIGHT HERE a minute ago!” And by “a minute ago” he actually means about twenty years ago, but whatever.

Thanks, Mark. Sometimes these shots that are taken through windows are hard to get, but every now and then the junk inside gives me the gift of being nicely arranged.

That doesn’t look like any old barrel in there – more like a special thing. Or even ceramic. I am a bit surprised the tree did not choose to grow in it so it could be taken off to a nice patio somewhere for watering.
The door/window in the background looks as if it should be on the outside of a building – is this by any chance an addition? If so, it looks like it is subtracting itself from the relationship.

There’s just no accounting for trees, is there?
This is the office/store that’s attached to the service station you can see in the background of the phone booth photo. But – by way of the caved-in roof, it is distancing itself from the rest of the building. The unusual part of this is that this room had the kinds of refrigerated cases that you see in meat markets…not what I thought I’d see in a place attached to a service station.

Perhaps they had to store the dope somewhere cool to keep it fresh before they place the orders under the phone shelf.

Wow! Now I am worried about all the photos I took while I was there! And maybe the reason I didn’t see any people is because they were hiding from the Strangers With Out-of-State Plates!

Or, the condition the place is in results from a DEA raid last week? The lack of people – they are all in custody.

This is all going to be a big shock to the Patient Spouse, who grew up very near to this hotbed of drug-related activity. He thought it was an idyllic childhood….
