Through a wood-smoke haze
To say the island is sparsely populated is an understatement. There is only one road, skirting the edge between volcanic mountains and the Pacific Ocean. The road, which isn’t always paved, doesn’t make a complete loop of the island. This scene is common.

Did you choose to go to Fiji because you knew what to expect, or because you’d didn’t know what to expect?

My family are scuba divers, and the local dive shop had a group trip to Fiji. Except for the part about “group” it was a fantastic experience.
