That’s exactly right – this mural makes a bigger statement, in its current condition, than it did when it was new.

Just like the cracks in the canvases from centuries ago – they add something. This is superb item of Art too.

I pass by this mural often, and see it from about a half a block’s distance. From there, I am captivated by her eyes…and can’t even see the way the paint’s peeling away. When I went close enough to see that detail it made me sad, but also enabled me to gain a new, deeper appreciation for the mural, its temporary-ness, and its meaning.
