Urban Details: Trees
I was surprised, during this urban details exploration, how lovely the trunks of trees are. I realize that sounds silly, but if you lived where I do, it would make sense.
So, anyway, here are some trees, which I will identify as “trees, with leaves.” If anyone’s got identification that’s, say, accurate, I’d be happy to hear from them.

Urban Details: Seating
And then, under the shade structure from yesterday, I saw a nicely perforated chair…

Urban Details: Shade Structure
The second of the urban details series is a shot of a shade structure that I found over in the corner of the park; as with the water feature, the place was mostly deserted when I was there, but its proximity to the World of Coca Cola Museum and the Georgia Aquarium suggests that I saw it under unusual conditions.

Urban Details: Water, dancing
While I was disappointed that I didn’t find the sorts of things I like to photograph during my short visit to Atlanta, it was a good experience for me, as I was forced to look at the sorts of things that I’d usually barely notice.
This shot, of the water feature at Centennial Olympic Park, kicks off my short series that I call Urban Details.
On weekends, this part of the park is overrun with kids (and adults, too, I expect) playing in the fountains. I was there on a weekday and it was mostly deserted.

Ghost Signs
My time was fairly constrained when I was in Atlanta, so I was limited on what sorts of things I could find to photograph. I stayed near the convention center, and everything around there is new, which presented a bit of problem for a photographer who loves the old, crumbly stuff.
I did spot this nice ghost sign just down the block from the hotel; it was nice of the sign to be there for me and it made me like Atlanta a little bit more.
