Clouds reaching toward the sea

050815

Planning a trip around low tide is something that wouldn’t occur to me, since I live on the High Plains. (We’d be more likely to plan a trip when the wind is generally calm, which we define as “below 45 miles per hour.”) Anyway, my tour guides, Ehpem and his lovely spouse, planned our day so we’d arrive at this beach at low tide. That gave us a view of the tidepools and rocks. The waves and clouds were especially accommodating that day, too, and all of us found lots of things to photograph.

Storm Drain + Clouds

042815

I’ve just returned from a visit to Victoria, BC, where I spent a few days with my blogging friend Ehpem. We’ve been friends for a few years now, after following each other’s blogs. If you follow his work, you know that this storm drain is one of his regular subjects.

While I was in town, we went to the storm drain a couple of times per day; this image was made on my last day in town.

You just never know where blogging will lead you!

This?

This? Oh, it’s just a little something I found on a wall in Victoria last summer. And that’s absolutely all I’ve got to say, which I realize may come as a shock to some of you.

No, wait – there’s one more thing. I hadn’t really thought about baggy pantyhose in quite a long time. Until now.

The sea’s power is incomprehensible

102114

Another shot from my visit with Ehpem, who showed me all the best places in Victoria.

I live on the plains. We don’t have many trees. And no oceans, of course. I really just can’t get my head around how much power the ocean has, that it can toss these logs around the way it does. I’d sort of like to see it happen. (From somewhere that’s warm and dry, of course.)

(I am gone for a while, and will not be responding to comments right away. But make some anyway, if you feel inclined, and I’ll get back to you – it just won’t be right away.)

The narrowest street

090214

This street is said to be the narrowest one in Canada. Some construction work on one of the adjacent buildings made it feel even more narrow, with scaffolding blocking the light. My excellent tour guide, Ehpem showed it to me. I am pretty sure I wouldn’t have found it on my own…
