Should you ever find yourself in Clovis, New Mexico, and in need of both dog training AND a headstone, this place makes it awfully convenient.

And, if you time it just right, while the dog’s getting groomed and the headstone’s getting carved, you could take a short drive up the street and around one corner to Twin Cronnies, a drive-in place that’s been there since 1952; it still has carhops, who deliver your order on those metal trays that hang from your car window.

    I worked in a country town once where the barbecue chicken shop was next door to a pet … No, I’ll hold my tongue on that one. 🙂

    I’d go there for the carhop experience – a flash back to my youth. Do they deliver on roller skates?

    I wonder if dogs that fail training (though in truth it is their owners that fail not the poor mutts) need headstones? This could be the real reason for this proximity.

      Nope. No roller-skate delivery. That was our only disappointment. The place doesn’t have a website, but do offer WiFi – I guess so customers can go ahead and post their Yelp reviews without delay.

      I just assumed the headstones were for humans; thanks for alerting me to my narrow-mindedness. Better get back to Clovis for additional investigation.

      And lunch at Twin Cronnies.

    I love one-stop shopping, even though I don’t have a dog! Or a need for a headstone (yet).
    There is a place in Newport, MN that still has the kind of service that Twin Cronnie’s has. We went there often but the closest thing to it was just a hardware store. Not as nice as this.

      Twin Cronnies was a great discovery – our plan for dinner was something that was (a) good and (b) not a chain restaurant. We were about to give up when I happened to see a sign that said “Drive Inn” (actual spelling). I’ll go back there, the next time I’m in Clovis.
