The day I was amused by signage
I know these two signs represented different businesses. I do.
But that certainly didn’t stop me from pondering the possibility of offering a drive-through option at the Christian Believers place.
And that made me think about how often I seem to be in line at the drive-up teller, just wanting to deposit one check and holding an already-filled-out deposit slip, stuck behind someone who is apparently filling out a lengthy loan application in the front seat of their car while I’m stuck behind them, unable to leave because there’s a car behind me.
Which led me back around to this scene: I’d probably be in line to turn in my homework (Sample essay question: What it your favorite Commandment, and why?) and get stuck behind someone who was there for their counseling session.
Which led me to take this picture, and walk on down the street, looking for more shots.
All of which has led you to think it must be really confusing inside my head. And that, of course, is an accurate assumption on your part.

Confused you may be, but at least you smell fruity. 🙂

I needed a good laugh this morning – thanks for stepping up and providing one!
Also: you’re not ever going to forget “you smell fruity” are you?!

It WAS a rather unforgettable remark.
And to be fair, if the situation were reversed, you can be sure I’d be posting comments about it on your blog.

I subscribed to your blog because I love the photographs you take. But now I would happily stay subscribed if you stopped photographing (though I hope you never do) just to read what you have to say. You’re such a treat!

Linda – thanks! I tend to crack myself up, so it’s always nice to hear that someone else is amused.
On the other hand, my family would probably tell you: Don’t encourage her. We have to live with her….

I think if you could order a taco and a diet Sprite, it would make the wait so much more tolerable.

As long as I could keep the taco grease off the essay question….

Fantastic hilarious juxtaposition. The world is full of these oddities and you’ve found a great example here. My main is full of crazy scenarios. Why is that whenever i have a choice of queues at a checkout I always choose what looks the shortest queue – and it turns out to be the slowest. Just like your drive-thru scenario.

Thanks, Andy. Finding things like this makes me very happy (I am easily amused.)

Just this day? I would have thought you’d be amused by signage regularly.
That is a good one though.

Good call on that, Karen: I am frequently amused by signage.
Several years ago, there was a pharmacy here that always had interesting things on their sign – sales and so forth. The best one ever was:
Toilet Paper – 12 rolls/$3
Wheelchair – $299
Because everyone knows wheelchairs are impulse purchases!

You don’t even mention the rectangles. This shot is replete with them. Reading your prose though, it made my head spin. I think I will try to stay inside my own thoughts from now on.
All that toilet paper would be good for wiping the taco grease off the essay question. Which would allow the teacher to read your answer. Something tells me you would either be booted from the class, or confined to a small room to write out more suitable lines, over and over.

I’d be stuck in a room writing
I WILL NOT BE SACRILEGIOUS.
Pretty sure that’s what would happen.
