Night light
You may recall that I sort of like shooting in Santa Rosa. For someone like me, who looks for beauty in decay, it is a very beautiful location.
This grand old building is now abandoned by everything except pigeons. And possibly rodents. (That reminds me – I once heard someone say that pigeons were just rats with wings.)
But anyway. It’s lovely by day – here’s a shot of the same building by my pal Donna Catterick. And at night, it’s even better. If you ask me. Which I realize you did not.

Spectacular, Melinda! The city of Santa Rosa ‘should’ thank you, flying-rats and all.

Thanks, John. I never get tired of going to Santa Rosa, even with the flying rat situation.

A very good shot with lots of mental reverberations about life that passes away. But the three bright light counterpoint the present still promising another future.
Sorry, but I am waxing a little poetic this morning…

That’s a very interesting observation, Vera. At some point, Santa Rosa became the major drop-off point for new cars that are being transported from ports in California. In Santa Rosa, they are offloaded from the train, then loaded on transport trucks for delivery to car dealerships. The lights behind this building are at the giant parking lot where the cars wait to be loaded onto trucks. So, the lights DO represent the town’s new future!
(No need to apologize for being poetic!)

Oh good. Thanks for telling me. I instinctively guessed right. ( isn’t that the power of photography? what it can convey? and yours conveys a lot. You are a visual translator. (Don’t get modest, it is only my personal observation.)).

Thanks, Vera. I really do try to convey more than just a pretty picture…

Donna and I actually met in Santa Rosa one weekend last fall – the day she took the picture I linked to. It’s fun to get to meet my blogging friends in person!

I haven’t been able to figure out for sure what this place was, but it surmise it had something to do with the railroad, which is next to it.
