A precarious situation

102014

My friend Donna Catterick and I spent some time exploring this old ice house. We’d walked under those tanks a few times before she noticed how much they were leaning.

It was an interesting coincidence that we were through shooting at almost the very same time she pointed out the precarious situation…

  1. The danger in seeking out the things that must be recorded, for whatever reason. Lovely image and be careful but don’t be scared….

  2. I like the capture of the structure – as we know all too well, exploration is not without its risks. I just shot a factory that had a huge hole in the floor – later I found out a homeless guy fell through this and hung upside down for a few days until he died…well, at least we BOTH came back from our photo adventures to tell the tale.

    • I feel sorry for that homeless man – what a terrible way to end up.

I don’t usually have access to the interiors of these places, but I look through my share of windows. My husband says that one of these days I am going to see something I’ll wish I hadn’t. He’s probably right, but until then, I am going to keep looking…

  3. Love this kind of stuff. Usually I act on the side of caution when I’m entering and exploring deserted buildings. The careful no scared mantra fits perfectly for the proper way to approach.
