2 barrels and a sidewalk

Just because I felt like it*, I rented a camera for a week, and to feel like I was getting my money’s worth, I took it everywhere. I used to do that with my regular camera, but got out of the habit.
I went to the park (which you saw here and which you’ll see again tomorrow). There were lots of things to see, because I was looking on purpose for things to shoot. I used to that a lot, too, but got out of the habit.
So an unexpected consequence of the rented camera was a reminder that I’d gotten lazy, and was missing a lot of subjects as a result. That made a week’s rental an especially good bargain.

I’m thinking of renting in the fall, too. Something small and lightweight but flexible. Thinking about a Sony or a Fujifilm camera. It wouldn’t replace the Nikon bt augment it instead. Was your rental a Leica? What was your impression at the end of the rental period?

My rental WAS a Leica, actually. At first, I hated it. It was so completely different from what I was used to and I was very frustrated. After I got through THAT, and started figuring it out, I liked it. I liked it a lot. How much did I like it? You’ll be seeing many more Leica images, more than I could shoot in a week’s rental period…

Y’all say “y’all” too, don’t you? Which is in my estimation, perfectly correct in a way that “you guys” isn’t.

Your aficionados like me have a hankering for your photos that always seem to point at more than they show.

Thank you, Vera. My mentor, Brett Erickson, is teaching me to make images that have many layers in them. He’ll be happy to know that his lessons may be taking hold!
