In-line

This was a remarkably well-ordered picnic site, with two tables, a grille, and a trash barrel all lined up more or less on that little island. I am pretty sure the barrel on the right is making sure they stay in formation.

Whoever designed this had a touch of OCD perhaps – a little too tidy for a rural spot. I love your reference to the concept of the ‘boss’ keeping them all in order.

It isn’t a very organic arrangement, especially for something in a park! I think I may have stolen the idea of the boss from Ehpem, who posted a series of photos of BBQ grills a few years ago and made reference (if memory serves) to one of them watching the rest.
