Disposal, two versions

This scene made me really miss my dad – he would have laughed all day about the trash dumpster in such a prominent location at a cemetery….

  1. I think I would have liked your Dad. The ironies of this world. Well done MGH.

    • My dad lost his sense of humor the last few years of his life, but prior to that, he was one of the funniest people I ever met. He was a big fan of irony, and of bad puns (if that’s not redundant…). Glad you liked this shot.

  2. My dad too! He was a minister with a great sense of humor, especially about funerals and cemetaries. Making his arrangements and planning his service last year was more often full of laughs, knowing how he would have reacted if he had been there!

    • Your story reminded me of planning my dad’s funeral. He was friends with the chaplain at one of the hospice facilities here, and several years before he died, he’d told her (in line at the grocery store, of all places) that he felt as though dying was like losing your virginity – you’re pretty sure it’s going to happen, but you don’t know when. She loved that story, and repeated it at a Hospice staff meeting. And, she told it at his funeral. It was perfect, as it perfectly captured my dad’s dry wit and off-center ways of looking at things. I am sure he’d’ve been proud of her for the re-telling!

  3. Your knack for finding quirky shots must be due to inheriting your Dad’s sense of humour Melinda.
