The is the same building as the rectangle-filled place from Sunday, only closer. And with fewer rectangles. Although I think I should get rectangle credit for the shape of the painted-out graffiti.
From a photographic standpoint, it’s nice that whoever painted over the graffiti didn’t even TRY to match the color of the brick. But from an aesthetic standpoint, maybe they should have?
True story: just as I was writing this post, I got an email from the Utne Reader, with a link to an article about green graffiti. Obviously this trend has yet to arrive in Lubbock….

U-Haul Parking
Some of my favorite things came together here: a wide gravel parking lot, a lonely building, some good clouds. Add in a U-Haul trailer, and I am a happy photographer!

Rectangles: too many to count
I can’t argue with my pal Ehpem, who recently pointed out that I tend to shoot a lot of rectangles; it’s possible I overdid it a little bit here.
It’s a rectangle overload.

Roll Arena: 1
When I was a kid, this was THE place to roller skate. I can still remember the smell of dust and feet, the sounds of wheels rolling over the wooden floor, the way I’d get a blister on my right foot from never varying the counter-clockwise circle.

The only light there was
This back of this closed-down gas station in the industrial part of town absorbed all the light that day.
On a side note, there’s a lot more traffic in that part of town than I expected. And, judging from the stares I got from truck drivers, not many photographers show up over there. I don’t know why: it’s only a few blocks from where I found this place a few months ago.
