No context

A brick wall. A rolled-up snow fence. A boarded-up door. I like how they look together, but without the context of the whole building, or even the town itself, it’s hard to know what it all means…

It’s hard to get into Home Ec

112714

Well, I guess what I meant is that it’s hard to get into the home ec room, with those knife-blades of broken glass guarding the windows. But even with that security feature, I have the idea that perhaps a few folks have made it inside.

All that remains

112614

This image was made from what used to be the inside of the school, which has been closed since 1975. These days, a farmer uses the school grounds for storage – the last time I stopped by, there were stacks of fiberglass fertilizer tanks against one wall of the building.

Coexistence

The despair of destruction, the hope of new construction with the buttresses on the left, the humanity of a table and chairs set outside: there’s a lot going on here.

Tree claws at moon

112414

This is the other end of the building that’s shown here – obviously this end is holding up a little bit better.

It feels like those tree branches are clawing away at the scrap of moon in the corner, but I have an idea that the moon was able to escape.
