A detail of this sign..
The desert sun has faded the colors, which are now delicate versions of their (presumably) vibrant shades. My favorite part is how the brushstrokes of a long-ago painter have become visible again.

Not at all helpful, 1
Regular readers will know that I never write about any of the technical aspects of my images. But I am making a rare exception on this shot. I took this in January, and liked it a lot. But the sky was noisy and my efforts to remedy it were unsuccessful. I tried more than once, because I am stubborn like that. And because I didn’t want to have to give up on this one.
Then, the other night, I gave Topaz DeNoise 5 a chance to show its stuff – and my noisy sky was all better.
But enough of that. How about all the extremely helpful information on this sign? Who needs a map or a smartphone or a navigator (person or computer) when there is this kind of roadside information?

…and across the road
Across the road from the place with the caved-in ceiling, you can get a burrito. And more, apparently.
This seems like a good time to mention that I am a big fan of Kevin Kainulainen’s blog Objects Gross and the Unseen Soul; he does a fantastic job of capturing storefronts and other buildings that have all seen better days. Go have a look – I bet you’ll like what you see.
