Watchful

061213

There I am walking along a long block between grain elevators and the railroad tracks, when I start to have an odd feeling. Like someone’s looking at me. I shake it off, thinking I am just letting the large numbers of pigeons get to me (I don’t like pigeons; there’s something about their cooing that really bothers me). But still, I feel it – someone is watching me.

I have no idea where that was coming from….

  1. Great picture with a haunting atmosphere. You catch everything don’t you…
And they recycle signage in Clovis but only as much as necessary.

  3. Very nice shot – and the touch of blue in the eye is quite effective!

The Underground Embassy looks like it might be an interesting place – it even has a facebook page.

And then there is infamous H.A. Marr Grocery Co., wholesaler, mis-labeller of product in both Clovis and Colorado. No, I didn’t know that prior to an internet search, which popped up some old court cases from the 20’s and 40’s, a job advertisement from 45, and a “seen about town” article about a new awning going in across the street from here.

See what your signs in photos do to people before 7am? Now I am exhausted and should go back to bed.

    • You really ARE my research department; by now I think you know more about Clovis than anyone. Anyone in Canada, anyway!

I was hoping someone would notice that blue eye. And I guess maybe my money was on you to be the one to see it.

“Clovis: the town where new awnings are news” Let’s suggest that to the Chamber of Commerce for a motto!

      • I only saw the blue when I enlarged your image – something I always like to do as often there is something extra to see in the detail.

A slogan like that might actually work quite well – a nice opposition to shootings and traffic fatalities, or whatever other violence and tragedy news organisations dwell on these days.

  4. The (blue) Eye in the Sky is watching you. And you’re right to dislike pigeons. Some are trained to attack when you least expect it.

    • So, if I am always expecting a pigeon attack, I ought to be safe. Right?

Also, someone over on the One Day | One Image Facebook page said, “Cooing is soothing.” I can only assume they were trying to be funny.

  5. After all you were down the road from Area 51 and Roswell!
