The remains of the gin
This abandoned cotton gin is right in the middle of town, just a few blocks from the county courthouse. It’s sort of fantastic looking, now, to people like me.
But, I feel bad for anyone who lived nearby – and there are houses just across the street – when it was operational. Cotton ginning’s a dirty business; at the height of the season, everything around is covered with so many fluffs of cotton that it looks like snow. It might sound sort of pretty, but it’s not. And it’s hard to breathe, too.

One of the things I really like about this shot is that the diagonal shadows break up the vertical lines of the corrugated building. Nice.

Yes, that’s exactly what it’s like. Like lint from a clothes dryer, over everything.

This is really nice, especially the large version that is so big, and deservedly so! I like the wonky post too – someone with an errant fender adjusted it, I am imagining. So much texture in this shot. And quite a lot of symmetry too, though that is OK once in a while 😉

Along with the color and no rectangles, now there’s SYMMETRY? I might need to see a doctor right away.

Well, you could just have a G&T instead. The gin would be fitting, and the tonic instead of a doctor. Cheaper most likely.

A G&T is a lovely suggestion. And if things get bad enough, I could skip the T and concentrate on the G!
