There have been a few changes
Maybe one of the most iconic photos of all is Ansel Adams’s Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico, which was shot from the edge of the road one evening in 1941.
I stood at very nearly the same spot and saw this instead of a moonrise over a simple church and a small graveyard. In fact, from where that famous photo was shot, it’s nearly impossible to see the church and graveyard any more.
I do like the variety of items that were available at this little gas station (now out of business). Pop and cigs AND septic tank service? All in one spot? That’s pretty good selection.

Derrick – I attended a workshop at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops a couple of weeks ago and am still working through the photos I made while I was there. The workshop (http://bit.ly/1n3uCN5) was excellent, and I am glad I went.

70+ years takes it’s toll on the landscape. Still, your shot is very interesting and I think, had Ansel happened upon it, he’d have shot it too.

He might have shot this same thing, but it maybe he’d have still gotten the moonrise.

And don’t forget Picnic Items 🙂

Yes, of course the Picnic Items. You know what’s fun? Having a picnic (with the Items), while watching a septic tank being cleaned out!

Septic tank service, And picnic items? No further comment required.

Just sounds like a party, doesn’t it?

Well, I hope they are a chronology rather than a list of concurrent services, but I doubt it somehow. The idea of septic tank services hand-in-hand (pun intended) with the purveyance of picnic items doesn’t really bear thinking about!

Maybe this less-than-enticing range of services contributed to the demise of the business.

I think you’ve just explained why it failed!
